ABOUT XAVIER MENTA
Xavier Menta is a passionate cannabis advocate and community organiser. Xavier grew up in Melbourne’s west and graduated in Sport Science at Victoria University. Further studies in horticulture strengthened his understanding of sustainable land management and environmental care. Raised by a hardworking Italian-Australian family, he carries strong values of community, diversity, resilience and standing up for others.
A serious workplace injury, followed by discrimination for using prescribed medicinal cannabis, forced Xavier to rethink his career path. Those experiences inspired him to speak out against social injustice, break down stigma and advocate for meaningful reform that supports vulnerable communities and delivers real benefits for everyone in the west.
Beyond its medicinal uses, Xavier believes Victoria should invest in research, local manufacturing and construction using industrial hemp. Xavier will advocate for hemp to be a core part of modular homes to help the state ensure it meets its housing targets, while supporting local jobs and innovation.
Xavier is deeply concerned with the many challenges facing the west. He has been active in several community campaigns including Say No to AI Data Centres, Better Buses in the West and both Sunbury and Lara says No to waste-to-energy incinerators. Xavier wants to save the west by standing up for healthier and more liveable communities.
